17th - 20th May 2023
Rutherglen Town Hall
Windmill Productions 2024
Windmill Productions presented a hugely enjoyable and
successful performance of “Whisky Galore a Musical” at
Rutherglen Town Hall from the 17th - 20th May 2023. Following
on from the company’s first ever show in 2014 performing the
same show, we wondered if it would have the same impact,
and judging from the audience comments, it certainly did that.
With many of the 2014 cast appearing again, some in their
original roles, others moving on to different parts, along with
amazing new cast members, Windmill put on a fantastic
production which was enjoyed by terrific audiences through
the run, one night which included the composer and lyricist,
Ian Hammond Brown.
The show had a few problems in preparation, not least of
which was the unfortunate illness of our producer, Alan Jones.
Alan had to step down as producer, but he handed over to the
wonderful JoanneTulips, who continued the rehearsals, put her
own stamp on the production. We are so grateful to Joanne for
everything she did for us. Another problem was in the music
depatment due to David Fisher being unable to attend all the
performances duringshow week. Hwoever, fabulous Rebecca
Keay stepped in to conduct the ensemble for the entire show.
Just like old times really because Rebecca had musically
directed our first performance in 2014.
Enjoy some of the photographs taken of the performance. Our very grateful thanks go to our friend, John Thomson, for his fantastic camera work.
Here are just some of the comments that were made on social media by people who came along. We hope they don’t mind us reprinting the comments!
